Και ξανά προς την δόξα τραβά/Marching οn to Glory
Fiction, Greece, 1980, BetaSP (35mm)
With Yannis Floriniotis, Vera Krouska, Costas Arzoglou, Mimi Denisi
In Athens, in the year 1980, a new musical star is born: Demis Flerianos. A female TV reporter is assigned with presenting his portrait and tracing the different periods of his life, from his childhood in the desolate rural provinces to his success in the big city. The political shifts and social changes taking place in Greece a year before the Socialists came to power are presented with cinéma-vérité-like frankness by Yannis Kakoulidis’s satirical screenplay, while one-ofa- kind singer Yannis Floriniotis plays the role of Flerianos, adding touches of his own persona to the character.
